  • [Traitor Car] Seat Ibiza FR 1.9 TDi

As everyone knows i'm a diesel fanboy, so when the Corsa was wrote off and i got a crap payout i decided to find a sporty diesel with a high market value to begin with.

Today i drove home with a wee Ibiza FR Tdi. Not the highest spec Ibiza diesel, but the Cupra models are too expensive.
Has lots of torque from the 130Bhp engine and later on when i decide to do some mods, it'll be quite a quick car.

No mods for a while though so i can make sure it's reliable.
2 owners before me. One was a dealership for 16 days
FSH and most recent one had water pump, tentioner and belt replaced just a few weeks ago
    95k miles

Will be a slow thread as not changing anything for a while but didn't feel at home here without a project thread

    Current mods
Ibiza Cupra PD160 cold air feed pipe
Plastic boot liner & carpet insert
    Seat parcel shelf tray
Philips Blue Vision Ultra headlight bulbs
    Osram LED 6k sidelight bulbs
Osram Nightbreaker Plus full beam bulbs
    Tailored black floor mats
5% limo tint to rear windows
    SMD white number plate LEDs
Cree white boot and interior LEDs
Fly Eyes kit on rear lights
    Cree LED reverse light.
2.5" Custom turbo back stainless exhaust
JVC MP3 player stereo with bluetooth kit
    Pressed plates

    Planned mods
EGR valve removed (got parts to do this)
ERG valve cooler removed (got parts to do this)
Custom remap with launch control and popcorn limiter
Powerflex front suspension wishbone bushes (got)
    Powerflex front ARB bushes (got)
Powerflex lower engine mount bush (got)
    OMP upper strut brace
Audi TT 312mm front brake conversion

      Cheers Shaggy.
The paintwork seems perfect. No stone chips or scratches or dings. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and that used to drive me insane with my B. The paintwork was really bad on it up close.

Future mods (depending how secure my job still is in say 6 months time)

Cupra front mount intercooler with hard pipes.
Miltek turbo back exhaust system with decat (2 silencers)
      EGR valve removed
      Mild remap.
      Upgraded anti roll bars
JVC MP3 Player with bluetooth and android support

Depending on how i feel at the time, the only cosmetic mods will be
      Debadge
      Rear window tints
      Pressed plates
      Leon Cupra Wheels
      Coilovers

Why a mild remap after doing the intercooler and exhaust? Can do a mild remap without doing them.

Don't want to put too much strain on the turbo for decent gains. FMIC gives arond 15+bhp on an aggresive remap and helps keep the charge temps down.
Exhaust will sound nice with the turbo whistle and make the turbo breathe a little easier. Might lose a little low down but gain more in the mid to high revs.
Decat keeps the turbo cooler as well.

Would like around 170bhp. An aggressive remap alone can do that but it's smokey and puts a lot of strain on the turbo, so this way should be safer long term.

            Its not a Corsa though

Woudlnt know how to mod that to be honest, but I probably woudlnt touch the engine in anyway just cosmetic.

I don't want another Vauxhall if i can help it, let alone a Corsa
The rust on them started to do my head in and up here in Scotland it's always wet and cold so they seem to rust quicker.

It'll be the opposite for me. Not much changes looks wise, but a few changes on the performance side of things. Don't get me wrong it feels really quick just now and even pulls well in 6th but since it's so easy to get more power from these it would be rude not to.

Will try and get some proper, nicer pictures soon

I like it, they make a really good noise when all silencers are removed

Still think you should have got a Leon FR or whatever they are called but if you're on a bit of a budget this is still good!

The Ibiza cupra tdi has 180 standard, what's the difference engine wise between the two?

Ibiza Cupra of the same shape as this is only 160bhp.
Different cold air feed, map, big front mount intercooler and bigger turbo IIRC. Remap alone on them takes them to 190+bhp

Seems like you picked a good car in terms of condition and history etc. Not a huge fan of the looks, never liked the high fat arse on them. Can look good with a few simple mods though.

It's lovely to drive, handles better, much faster and even better mpg than my Corsa did so feeling pretty happy with it.
I really wanted a Polo to be honest, but one with similar spec to this is about a grand or so more expensive so i went the cheaper route. Polo, this and the Fabia are all the same running gear so just mainly cosmetic differences.
What would you suggest changing on it? I agree, they don't look the best. It looks nicer in person tbh but i'm not a fan of the ride height ot rear lights much.
