  • [Traitor Car] saab 9-5 bag o ****e.

thought i'd post what i've been upto for the last year. i haven't posted much but i do log in and have a nosey.

start of last year i had what was the most shagged ford falcon wagon. with the help of a few workmates it ended up with a locked diff, and a trans controller to hold it in 1st or 2nd. it then got the living **** skidded out of it till october, when it grenaded. so needing a car i bought this:

its a late 98 saab 9-5 in green with a beige leather trim. its an s spec so has a manual box and is meant to be a base model.

fitted a headunit and some door speakers. need to throw my sub in as well.
made the grille, and fitted the pod filter. decided i needed more power. 150bhp and 230 ft lb is ****.

boost guage got mounted badly in a pillar pod, i redid all the small vac lines chasing a boost leak. bypassed a vac valve and blanked another. bought a USB BDM tool and some pin connectors, and took my ecu apart....

i can dump the bim file in 1 min and upload the new one in 4 mins. the soldering pins was easy, getting th freeware to work took 3 days and google translate into croatian or some ****. its a smart way of doing things, the board has a bdm pin point printed onto it, so its just adding a connection.

the cars current remap takes it to 186bhp and 380nm of torque. not bad for a technophobe in his living room.

      heres the dyno sheet.

runs lean before boost then goes slightly rich. notbad.jpg

so whats it like to drive now? ballistic. 1st and 2nd are useless if you floor it, and 3rd is toruqe steer. it will happily pull off the clock. not bad for stage 1.

      stage 2 looks like this:

      but i need a 3 inch exhaust.

It's got airbags and remappable ecu's, abs I class that as modern
(Though all of that was a guess)

thanks. in other news, back on the dyno today, 254bhp and 402 nm of torque. turbos at its limit. so time for an upgrade. aiming for 300bhp and 500nm. so probably a gt28rs or similar.
