  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Project: Brocade Yellow

Evening all, those of you who have kept an ear to the ground recently will know of my little crash that I had. This prompted the need for a loan because A) the peoples fence wasnt going to repair itself and B) my car needed some money thrown at it.

So, I've been buying bits for about 2 weeks now, I thought it might be a good idea to get a project thread going as most of the work will be happening next weekend (Sat/Sun/Mon) I've got all 3 days off, working solid through the day from early morning, and through the night until early hours. It WILL get done that weekend

So, this is how it stands at the moment:

    WHATS TO DO:

PENDING - New front and rear bumpers

    DONE - Debadged grille

DONE - New exhaust center section

    DONE - New cat

DONE - Sportex 4" oval backbox

DONE - Lower 60mm all round - Jamex shocks and springs

    PENDING - Full colour coding

    PENDING - White steelies :P

    PENDING - Depo fronts

    PENDING - Black MHW rears

    DONE - Calibra front seats

DONE - Fix the damage to the floor pan in the boot (will be done when we fit the new bumpers)

DONE - Full service (new plugs, leads, oil flush, new oil, new oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, drain coolant system and redo, new brake pads)

    FUTURE POSSIBILITIES AND PLANS:

    GSi Spoiler

    GSi Front bumper

GSi skirts (or stienmetz, not sure, they look a bit nicer)

Cesaros, Speedline Allessios or Compomotive MO's

    Possibly tint windows

    ENGINE TROUBLES:

As of about 1 week ago, I've lost all power, its extremely jerky in all gears at all revs, max speed is about 65mph downhill, rev limiter is at 3,000rpm ish. In an attempt to fix this, the following are being done:

    **DONE**

    DONE - New cat

    DONE - New lambda sensor

DONE - New air flow meter

DONE - New engine coolant temp sensor

    DONE - Clean EGR valve

    **DONE**

If it doesn't run OK after this then something has majorly gone wrong...

Comments and suggestions extremely welcome, as you can see, I've bought a lot of bits already, my bedroom is full of parts and boxes etc... Theres still a loooong way to go

Obviously, there will be progress pics of all of this after enxt weekend when it all begins... I hope to get the lowering done, at the same time i'll do brake pads becuase i'll have the wheels off, once its lowered i'll do the exhaust fit the cat and the backbox, already fitted new centre section. After that, its all little jobs, the full service needs doing, all the sensors need replacing/cleaning/testing, filters need doing, oil flushing etc... once all of those are done, the bumpers will come into play, along with straightening out my back end... Either that or I'll fit the leathers in the front, not sure, will see how it goes...

My old ones?? they're being thrown away, rear is bent in two, 50% of the screw/bolt/mounts thingies are broken, the front one has a hole in the front of it. Buying new ones, still standard post-97, but im colour colding them all and the arches. Why do you ask?

Yup, definately a busy weekend... No, the bumpers wont get done in that time, they are coming from sam_homepc who unfortunately has run into some issues at his end which is delaying them. Not to worry, i probably wouldnt have had time to do them anyway, plus it gives me a chance to test fit where i want to cut out of the bumpers to sit the exhaust nice and tight.

Front leaters should only take an hour or so, im guessing the first one will be more hassle than the second, because i wont have done it before, lol...

Im hoping to get lots of photos of the progress aswell... might post up a tutorial on how to fit the leathers if i get time afterwards... I think we already have a tutorial on lowering and exhaust fitting and stuff like that, so i wont bother with those...
