  • [Traitor Car] Danny boy's budget drifter bmw 318

Well as a few of you probably saw on facebook I picked up a bmw 318,
    200000 miles
    Full years tax
    Mot till July 2015
    Full tank of petrol
    Nearly new tyres on front
went half's on it with a friend got it for 290

Obviously for that price it has some issues, slipping clutch when cold and a leaky power steering pipe but we are happy with it

    Pictures from eBay

When I was at trax yesterday bought a hydrolic handbrake

Then once home from trax we set about stripping out the interior

Looking at where to put the handbrake

Obviously before stripping it we tested it's drifting capabilities

    So future plans
    Clutch change (sachs clutch ordered)
    Weld up diff
Bucket seats (looking at a cheap set with harnesses this week)
    steering rack spacers (ordered)
Deap dish steering wheel (boss bought)
Headlight mod with cold air feed
    More to come
    Dan

Is this remaining road legal or pure drift? As that changes things a lot lol

            Little amount of progress
            Dash was ripped out today

Will remove sound deadning, trim the dash and remove Un needed wires

Started some modification of the headlights

And this turned up ready for Saturday

Just noticed the mileage on this one. You sure it's up to high rpm drifting with 200k on it lol
I know it's German, but that's a fair few miles none the less!

I would hardly worry about the 200k when it's about to be abused drifting.

It is high miles but apparently all motorway miles and apparently still running original clutch (slipping might I add lol) + the plan is to swap the engine to the 2.5 straight 6 when this one goes pop

So cracked on with it today hat alot we wanted to do but didn't get much done lol

Set about changing the clutch but not got meany pictures

two impossible bolts at the top of the gearbox needed 6 extention bars to get to.
With all the yanking to get the gearbox off (metal gasket was caught, damaged a coolant fitting so can't put it back together.

                            Gearbox out
                            New release bearing fitted

                            New clutch fitted

                            Mandatory old clutch pictures

That was all we could do with the clutch for today

                            Next fitted hydro handbrake

Havnt blead it yet as we didn't have a 6mm spanner

Also started cleaning the remained of sound deadning with white spirt

White spirt soaked microfibers are very flammable lol
