been a while but heres a few updates.

got the floor pan all cleaned up rust free and painted,

battery tray mounted in the back with fuse holder just waiting on some more cable to run the live feed to the front.

    coversion rails on the seats.

and test fitted driver side with harness,

then started on the window frames in the back

then things got a little tasy with the angle grinder.

being plesently suprised when i found this was the worst bit of rust hiding away,

just a few little spots left to sort out and weld a replacement plate in over the realy rusty bit and then its ready for a new wing,

      new metal going in

      - - - Updated - - -

not the pretyest welding ive ever done but cetainly is strong enough
new front panel welded in, bay primed and seam sealed

cutout in the inner chassis rail ready for reshaping to make clearance for the zetec lump

outside of the inner wings all rust free and treated

few more clearance issues to overcome but nothing that i wasnt expecting

mocked up a gearbox mount in 1.2, will be stealing some 3mm from mk1 deano at some point to make up the real thing, although i have change the design a little since i made this one up

then using some creativity made a bush puller

        10 minis later

flo flex bushes are on order hopefully will arrive tomorow, this weekend engine will be back out stripped for rebuild and ill finish last few bits of welding in the bay and will have a rolling shell again

the paint scheme on the rocker cover is a bit random but I love it, was gonna suggest some pepperpot alloys for it, but the white ones suit it really well too

put the engine back in today to test clearances on the alternator and make sure with the st170 manifold on that the itbs would fit and how much room was left for the velocity stacks.

alternator is incredibly tight but it does just about fit.

and a random sneaky one of the manifold peeking through

well.... not alot been happening recently. a new job and working a month in arrears means very little cash to spend on the car... however there was just enough credit left on the card for the next big purchase.... so interior came back out.

only test fitted for now. none of the strengthening has been welded in yet, and it needs a coat of paint aswell.
then i started to rebuild the interior so i could get an idea of what the finished thing is going to look like. you may be thinking what a pointless task seeing as its all got to come out again so i can weld but i needed the moral boost. getting a glimpse of what its going to be like to sit in is a great feeling.

then seeing as it was covered in months of cutting and grinding dust i gave it a quick wash. again pointless as its going back in the garage to gather more dust over the newt few months but it made me feel better.

thought id try them out.. in two minds at the moment either try to keep the interior as standard as possible or just all out strip it.

you lads reckon it looks better like this?
