  • [Traitor Car] AJ's Mazda MX5 :D

OK, so ever since I was a little boy, I have wanted a Mazda MX5.
From an early age, there has been something about it - the shape, the pop up headlights, the removable roof, the sports car look - I wanted it.

A few weeks ago, I decided to buy one.

I drove down to Sutton from Essex to meet the owner selling it who had it in his garage. He said he hardly drove it and kept it in the garage to keep it out of the weather.

He started her up and I felt an excitement rush over me

He pulled it out onto the road and started to tell me what he had done to it.

A full service, replaced a load of bolts with stainless steel in the engine bay, removed the Tan soft top and replaced with a brand new black vinyl one with heated glass window, gave it a full respray from BRG to Gloss black, fitted 4 new tyres, welded new sills.

I sat in the drivers seat and immediately wanted it even more.

I handed over the cash, signed the log book, and was on my way....

I dont have many photos but I have been tinkering with it slightly.

So far I have done the following:
    Added central locking and alarm
    Added a boot release
    HID upgrades
    LED sidelights and numberplate lights
Made my own bracket for front numberplate and fitted a 2 line plate
New backbox custom built and fitted
    New Stainless Steel door sills.

I'll update this thread as I continue, and add photos of its progress

First task - removing the old glue from them.
I used a heatgun and scrapped off as much as I could:

The crap that this polish pulls off the metal is remarkable:

Nice one. I think that metal polish coats them in a wax if it's like mines as part of it as well so usually stays shiny for ages.

I once used it to polish my mums cooker to show her how well it works.
She still has, after about 2 years, about 2 inches of stainless still all shiny and the rest looks like brushed steel

My little boy loves it - he tells everyone (even randomers), 'thats my dad and his car is without a roof'.

I picked up one of these Karcher K2 Pressure Washers a few weeks ago - originally it was for the Focus ST170 but since I dont have that no more, it's now for the MX5

Its main purpose was to use it for snow foam, so I bought one of the Karcher K2 snow foam lances, thinking 'If it says Karcher, it must be good, right?'.
                  Oh how wrong I was

So, I spoke to Vegas for some recommendations and he suggested a diffrent lance. Couple of days later it had arrived and was fantastic - almost shaving foam consistency

Said that in your pressure washer thread. Choice of Lance is everything with snowfoam. Glad to see you got good results eventually though.

As promised. Need to invest in a couple more flashguns though tbh...

My K2 foam lance isn't that bad. It came with mine though, did you get an AF lance or an eBay copy ?

Edit. Saw link, about same price as the AF lance, I need one of these and a decent foam.
