Few pictures of the purchase as it comes. Has some minor damage here and there but overall seems ok.

So I have a list of tasks and problems already!

- Air Filter
- Fuel Filter - Depending, never done one
- Oil
- Oil Filter
- Pollen - Depending, never done one
- Glowplugs - Depending, never done them/cost.

- faulty temp sesnsor or stat or something related
- faulty brake light or something related - cant work out what's wrong yet.
- strange clicking from fan control temp setting dial when turned to full cold or hot

- damaged wing mirror edge to replace - not priority
- interior noises from rattle to quieten down - not priority

Make sure the dealer gives you the vehicle owners pack, which should include the id card with security codes for the keys, radio etc - spare key, handbooks, service book, GM branded pipe, slippers, cardigan and rocking chair.

Not sure what you mean about codes. Just got two keys and some booklet.

I have a potential issue already. Car takes two attempts to start. Unless recently driven.

Suspect battery related as garage let it run flat.

Personally feel the interior is more noisy and loose then my corsa, and door buttons are pretty awful but after a run to York and back the comfort and power and effortless driving is nice.

Not messed with cruise control as been awake 28 hours on a few hours sleep so didnt want to risk it but not sure how and where to use also.


When I got it it ran out of diesel on way home because tools didn't leave barely any in. Was just a car length from pump waiting. I wonder if this is a risk.

Will get a service on it asap all been well next month.

Code for radio for when/if you take it out it will need the code to take it out of safe mode when you re fit it, there is also another security code but iirc you can use opcom to get that

Do you live far from york?

Also the biggest downside to vectras (and most other Vauxhalls)
Is the **** interior lol get a double din cd/sat nav in to liven things up

Cruise control should be on the end if the indicator stalk, iirc 2 buttons when you are at a certain speed press one if them and you will be in cruise control, if you brake it will cancel it but you Cam speed up then let off the accelerator and you will drop down to the set speed and you will stay at that until you brake or press button

Dealers are robbing ****s when it comes to fuel only usually put enough in to move Cars around the yard

^^ Spot on edi one long button the cancels the cruise control, an indented button which can be used to re-engage the set cruise speed if brake, clutch has been pressed, and one button with small raised nobble to set cruise.

He should be safe otherwise he will blame me lol. But agree Tam the torque is brilliant in diesel's nowadays, he won't get a loud turbo whistle like you do in the 150bhp speck one though lol.

Shaggy didnt you give them a kick so they serviced it for you?

Re starting not sure on vectra c diesel's but old mans takes two key turns to fire when cold.

I have been trying to keep revs low for max eco, so I'm not to do this with the SMF?

What rev ranges are ideal per speed then in an ideal eco situation vs a non labour SMF situation? I've got so used to the 1.2 I can't tell what's high or low on this but usually it's at 2000rpm or a lowest 1500rpm and I match gear to suit using 6 for 65-70mph?

Temp sensor takes a shift of the tide to realise it's on but it does come on.

Fuel level has moved down 10% from half tank for 110miles. Not sure how to gauge this or trust this yet either

Indicators I think are meant to be one push. Same with wiper controls with a beep when you cancel, at least I think so.

Not following or understanding your knob talk about cruise control lol. IIl avoid until I am more in turn with the car.


What about interior trim rattle guys, door cards, parcel shelf. This has much more then my little corsa ever had. Hopefully a run right with some screw drivers to fix.

The DMF absorbs all the vibrations from the transmission and engine to protect the lifespan of components so it sacrifices itself to keep the other transmission components from failing early.
If you take away the DMF, then the vibrations are absorbed by the engine crankshaft and gearbox mainly.
When you labour the engine that's when it vibrates the most so usually going up hills in too high a gear or else try and accelerate from low revs.


If traveling on a flat road / motorway then it's fine to as you're not changing speed but if it's a road where there's lots of hills or you're having to change speed a lot it's best to keep it in a gear that keeps the engine in a decent rpm range (i.e where the turbo normally spools)


My turbo comes in around 2000rpm, so if i'm on a road with hills or having to adjust speed a lot then i try and keep the revs above that.


Putting your foot on the clutch whilst turning the engine off and starting it is a good idea as well i've read.


I usually only use 6th for 70mph on mines (2200rpm) but anything less than that, i'll drop into 5th

I tend to keep revs around 2000 so it's ok to go a little higher then. I'll bear this in mind as A19 is rarther up and down and I've been holding foot in place/holding 6th and letting the speed drop (if it does) to see how it copes or using gas. These are not laborious as A real hill but turbo isn't spooled and if speed dips I can assume it's because it's taking the brunt. For this I'll drop down to 5th or use gas it a bit?

I've heard about that 'clutch down thing' when talking about the exmil range rover at work. Thing has 0 tech or comforts but security guard loves it. I'll give it a go with this.

It sounds like you'll be fine from what you're posting to be honest.

With diesels you usually get best mpg when driving in a gear that allows you to maintain the desired speed, with minimum pressure on the accelerator.
So if you go up a hill that needs the foot half down in 6th gear at 2000rpm, but say only 1/4 down in 5th gear at 2500rpm, then i'd pick 5th

Yep it's all about throttle position on a diesel with regards to mpg.

I think I may be starting the car wrong, can someone explain the correct proceedure to start this diesel?

I've been turning the key right away to fire engine just like a petrol, then it struggles so I give up, then turn again and it fires.

Am I meant to be doing something to prep- charge the car before I fire it thats happening when I do the first failed start?

Just put key in turn first click it so (one before start) wait a second then click again, try that
