  • [Traitor Car] Michaels Dirty DERV Impreza take 2

So, as most of you know, Tadashi was written off just over a month ago when Carl the Lorry Driver decided his phone was more important than watching the road.

Here we are a month later with a replacement!

Higher mileage, more stone chips, but pretty much the look I was going for. And for 3200 (half what we paid for the white one!)

Here he is, just after we collected him.
Drove to Chepstow. Nice guy, he was a farmer.

Loads of black vinyl on parts, and WRX badges (nope).

Hella Horns, Stage 1 Map, adjustable throttle box, stainless exhaust (I think it's just a back box tbf), Prodrive GT1 alloys (5 as there was a spare!), Cruise control, climate control, HIDs, Carbon Spoiler, and some weird fins on it too...

Anyway, we got home and got to removing the vinyl straight away

Fitted the rear wind deflectors from my last one, and my mats.

Had to leave the rear wrap on as it was chrome underneath...urgh!!

I did also fit my induction kit, but the car REALLY hated it. Literally had not power, was pluming out smoke, horrible.
Put the original back on, but took the stupid white plastic thing underneath off. I still get some nice loud choo choo noises and turbo flutter, as well as a nice boxer rumble!

I made a massive stupid error the Saturday night too.
I checked the oil and took the WRX off the grille, and forgot to properly put the oil filler cap back on.

We were driving to Tesco and noticed absolutely no power at all. I thought it was the induction kit at this point (this is before the smoke etc).
Got back home to find oil all over the bonnet, battery, alternator, headlight...everything.
Cleaned it all up, fitted a new battery strap (as the old one rusted and snapped), checked the oil...all ok...stupid mistake really!!

I'm going to get it booked into the bodyshop to have the weird lacquer peel on the bumper sorted (there's a circle of lacquer missing :S)

This weekend I'll be repainting the engine cover (and the ST engine cover) and re-lacquering the spoiler

Looks good, glad to see the WRX badges gone! Did he give a reason for the black vinyl on the fuel cover? Just odd

Nope, just wrapped bits that looked wrap-able I presume! They were wrapped well though! no bubbles or anything! Just not my style anymore!

        Done a few changes.

Have a semi decent headunit...by semi decent I mean it has Bluetooth and Google maps...it's a cheap chinese one, but does the job. No more AUX leads...ugh

And did an oil change for my own piece of mind.

No metal in the oil...always a good sign (not like Reys old Mini Cooper S!)

I hate dipstick readings though. To be fair, i did only put 5.25 litres in (it's 5.5), but the dipstick shows half in between...that' a tiny margin between low and full!!

Bought some more C3 5w30 oil to top up the last little bit.

Not sure if it even needs low SAPs or DPF specific oil though, as the DPF has been hollowed out and mapped out!

Also, turns out the little dial that's by the indicator stalk is for the map...seems switchable which is pretty cool!!
It's a bit like the D.N.A switch in an Alfa

There was a small patch of lacquer missing at the front which I've had repaired

Forgot to get any before pictures, but this is the after.

It was a big circle just under the headlight washer

                  150 for the job.
He had to sand quite a bit back to get it to blend. It's absolutely seamless!!

                  Polite declination of horn removal

Not bad at all, well worth it if it makes you happier with the car.

I'll get my way regarding the horns, one way or another

Is the pic after they scuffed it up a little? Or was it just that bad originally?

That's after it was scuffed up. But you can see the shape and size of where the lacquer was missing.

They said it's usually caused by industrial jet washes that they use at the car washes

Did it just need clearcoat? If not colour match looks spot on
