The Alternator belt started fraying the other night...think it's the original.
Decided that I may as well replace both the Alternator and PAS belts.

Easy enough for the PAS, got it off real quick...not so much for the Alternator...absolutely seized in place.
No worries, called my mechanic and booked her in for the belt replacement and them to check out a rattling noise from the rear.
Noise was due to me not putting a shim back in (pads wouldn't move with both shims, so I left one out...gonna put it back in now!!)

    Sadly, they found this

They're the PAS return, and pressure pipes...

They offered a short term repair, but i figured no point in paying for temporary fixes, I'll just risk it. So they left a bottle of PAS fluid in the car for me, for free

    Thought they'd survive a bit longer...nope.

Driving back from the gym (#DoYouEvenLiftBro?), came round the corner before home and heard the loudest squelching sound I've ever heard.
Pulled up on the drive and could hear a really loud rubbing type noise.

Open the bonnet to find a pink puddle on the undertray, and the PAS rack completely soaked.

Booked in on Friday for the replacement parts (self-sourced with the mechanics help to save money on Mazda pricing!)

    Yay for equity!!

Bad luck, your mechanics sounds good though if they're willing to help find cheaper parts. It took some convincing to make mine put in the grade of oil I wanted! "Computer says no"

Nout major, but I'm taking her on the track on Wednesday
Quite excited to see how she handles and compares to the ST!

Then she's being sold so we can get a 5 door car...an Impreza

                  Of course!

Had the pleasure of doing the Spark plugs on my brothers Legacy the other week, then the Crank Position sensor on Sunday...that was fun.

At least I won't need to worry about Spark Plugs soon!!

Did my first and Only Track day in Summer yesterday...

Considering all handling/suspension parts are stock (and tyres are shockingly awful), she was fantastic!

Also, a video of one of my 4 offs!

                    Michael Jones on Instagram: “All fun and games, and a massive learning curve! #mazda #mx5 #Summer #miata #mk2 #nb #jdm #softtop #convertable #rwd #rearwheeldrive…”

It's so totally different to tracking the ST/EP3...obviously as its RWD.
I wasn't expecting it to be as tail happy as she was!

All in, a fun day though!!

Will be even more sad to see her go!!

Hopefully, she'll go to the photogorapher, as he seemed really impressed and interested in her

Looks good, to be honest if you were several hours closer I probably would have had it off of you - I'd been looking for one for the GF (of course that's code for second car for myself, that she can drive) but a lot of them have the rust problems.

                        Luckily, not this one

Got the receipt for the replacement sills (2 years ago) and the arches are all solid

Funilly enough, the new car is in Reading...thats near you

I know that in 20/30 years I'll end up buying a MX5 ND after my future kids have been forced to leave the house

If you class near me as a 2 hour drive, then yes, near me...

Dieppe is a closer to me than Rugeley, but nobody suggests they're nearby if they're there

She sold on Friday night to a dude that's going to teach his some to drive in her, and how to fix and work on engines with her...

                                ...and he's gonna turbo her.

Time to close the thread I think
