Hammerite has its uses but the underside of car isn't a great place for it. It sets too brittle so has a habit of cracking and then moisture gets in so you get corrosion back quite quickly. A paint I've used to better effect is Ronseal No Rust - easy to use, and it lasts a lot longer.
I used to use Hammerite on my trailers and usually got no more than 18 months out of it. With the Ronseal paint I've not had to repaint for 7 years.
The other way to tackle the underside of these is to spray them with a wax underbody spray, Dinitrol 4941 underbody wax is excellent and easy to use in aerosol form. Buy if off their ebay shop as that's cheaper than buying straight from their website. You'll need three cans for the underside of a Corsa. They also do a good cavity wax for sills etc.1972 Viva restoration thread - http://www.thecorsa.co.uk/projects-b....html#post1534
