Hammerite has its uses but the underside of car isn't a great place for it. It sets too brittle so has a habit of cracking and then moisture gets in so you get corrosion back quite quickly. A paint I've used to better effect is Ronseal No Rust - easy to use, and it lasts a lot longer.

I used to use Hammerite on my trailers and usually got no more than 18 months out of it. With the Ronseal paint I've not had to repaint for 7 years.

The other way to tackle the underside of these is to spray them with a wax underbody spray, Dinitrol 4941 underbody wax is excellent and easy to use in aerosol form. Buy if off their ebay shop as that's cheaper than buying straight from their website. You'll need three cans for the underside of a Corsa. They also do a good cavity wax for sills etc.

Hi Taurus I don't actually plan on leaving it like that the car will also be under sealed over the hammerite.

Got another bit done on the car today, started undersealing it and removed the fuel tank.

Got fed up brushing on the underseal so opted for this lol:

Also picking up my engine tomarrow, and dropping my rear axle off for blasting and powder coating.

Thinking about keeping this engine as I was thinking last night if I get an opd inlet and 4-2-1 manifold and exhaust system I've at least got the power of an x16xe plus tax will be lower and insurance. It's a really good strong engine pulls really we'll not tappey either.

i was looking at that alarm system! Keep a log of how it goes in and works for me hehe!

Again. loving the concept of upgrading and renovating about everything. Keep the effort going.

How you coping with the weather? Do you have a dry warm garage or just a parking area like me.

                            Wet and windy
