Ouch doesn't sound good, Id be as well not claiming but I dont have anywhere to repair the car or the money right now.
Im with Swinton, ill have to check my documents, so far they said the assessors will collect the car from the garage and look at it within 7-10 days, tho ive been told it will be quicker by the garage as the garage who collected it charges fees to them so they are more likely to arrive sooner rather than later..
the mileage is around 56,000 miles, so not bad considering its a 2002 model. almost completely standard apart from a few small things like tinted windows which are declared.
I know all insurance companies are different so im just gauging what i may be looking to receive, thanks.

Swintons is a broker not an insurer, who are the underwriters on the policy?Originally posted by DaveOriginally posted by Stephen Fry[B]"It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' Don't claim, it ****s you up. I've swallowed write-offs before and just bought a new car. Its expensive in the short term. You forget about it and move on within a few months and your money levels out again. Or you can claim and be ****ed up the arse for 5 years by insurers.

If noone else was involved you may as well bite the bullet and save for another carLike me...feed me likes!

Thats what I'd be willing to do, but what about the car ? I have no funds to repair or know of anyone willing to buy, it wouldn't work and I have no where to store it.
I have no idea about the underwriters i know i got passed on to some other third party, I had phoned them right after the accident so was in a bit of shock hence not remembering half the stuff they said.

It's a bit of a case of bolting the stable door after the horse has bolted, but in the situation where you decide not to claim so as not to incur higher insurance premiums then if you damage a car just deal with it and don't go via the insurance. They will increase your premium even if you don't claim once you've reported an accident. eg - if you get hit in the rear by someone and it all gets paid for off their insurance you'll still find most companies put an accident incident on your record. It's a rip off.
Since you have already informed them off the accident, which is clearly down to you, that will be recorded as a loss on your record whether you claim or not. How much difference it will make if you now claim I have no idea - but I'd bet that since it's all down to procedures and protocols rather than human discretion you might not save much by not claiming at this stage.1972 Viva restoration thread - http://www.thecorsa.co.uk/projects-b....html#post1534
