  • 4000 40+mpg quite fast

Sold my car and not sure what to get at all, so far I have considered:

    Mondeo st tdci
    Astra 1.9 Sri cdti xp
Audi a4, is the 1.9 130bhp a good engine (sounds slow?)
Even considered a Fabia vrs, anyone know what these are like long distance?

I'm happy to go petrol if can get 40+mpg

    Need something this week.

From what I've read on Briskoda, the Fabia VRS get really good views, great to drive, comfy and great on a run... have a read on there

If it's a 1.9 tdi Fabia VRS, it's the same engine, chassis and components as mines and the Polo TDi GTI with the vag PD130 engine.

What do you think of yours?

Loads, why? Slightly different question, slightly different title and slightly different content. Great for SEO and as it's a different question I may get a different answer.

I think overall it's a good car, but repairs and services seem to be expensive for it.
I think you'd be ok with one and a remap to take it to around 170bhp, but as standard they're a little too underpowered to be fun in anything after third gear.
Fuel is ok as well. As you know i do mostly motorways and i've been flooring it off slip roads, when overtaking, when pulling away ect. Sitting about 80ish+ cruising speed and it's showing 45mpg on the computer

Astra because it's closest thing to a Corsa in the list
Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 CDTi SRi - New Car
Black 1.2 Corsa SXI Project - Sold
Aruba Blue 1.0 Corsa Project - Sold

I would go for the astra to unless you can get a cheap corsa d with a turbo diesel engine

Hardcore do you find it a bit small in the motorway or fine?

I do like the Astra but does lack on equipment a bit, still if I find a nice one close I'll go and take a look. The corsa cdti I haven't heard good things about.

Also just considered an st220, then fitting an lpg kit. Will need to get quotes in LPG kits but this seems like diesel economy without the risk of wallet raping problems.

You can get a real nice vectra or signum 150cdti for that money, get an elite so you have all the toys and lower it so you have the handling, with a remap you are getting nr on 200 bhp and bags and bags or torque with real good mpg returns..
                      vectra c i35, corsa LE #035, 5-door arizona....5 door demon.

I feel a lot more confident with this on the motorway than i did the Corsa, 196 and Mk3 Golf i had. Be worth test driving one if you can first maybe, in case it's too similar to the fiesta

I've considered the vectra but when I owned one it just felt a bit 'cheap' inside, not ruling it out completely though.

My dads had a couple of passats, nice cars. Both 1.9tdi 130 I think. No issues with them at all.
