10k a year and tyres included. The car was either a Volvo v40 with a fair amount of extras or a Mercedes A Class

That wouldn't include insurance, maintenance or servicing presumably?

I'm not after a sporty car. Also what are the lease terms you are looking at? I'm looking at 24 months

I have a couple of mates on a Ford Fiesta lease one has a 1.4 the other a 1.6 and both have afforded the insurance with ease and they aren't in magnificently paid jobs (20 y.o.)

I think one of them wangled himself the first service for free when taking out the lease but I spoke to them about it both like costs etc and one said its all right but they wouldn't be renewing as they would prefer having their own car but the other swears by it and cant see himself not leasing a car for a long time
                  .

Under warranty so no maintenance would be needed. Tyres probably will need to be changes once in the 3 years and insurance won't be much

If I had 2 cars yes, but honestly I get no time to drive fast, I usually have my boy with me so would rather safe over fast.

My credit rating won't allow me to lease/buy elsewhere. I could save but honestly I wouldn't - I'd waste it on stuff like I do now. This way it's out of my wage before I've had a chance to spend it

Octavia VRS was the tdi, would cost next to nothing to run 190+bhp and would be comfortable for you and the little one.

Volvo v40 isn't bad but don't get an A class, a corsa or an Astra would be better than an a class.
