  • Accord type r

I've never hidden my love for this car and I still want a euro r (if prices became sensible)

Anyway RE: PH Heroes: Honda Accord Type R - PistonHeads

Quite a nice write up if slightly inaccurate, it would hit 0-60 in less than 6 seconds and it doesn't drop out of Vtec when going from 3-4 which I can confirm after testing.

Would it really hit 0-60 in less than 6 seconds standard though?
The speedo is never an accurate way to measure it on any car and the one on youtube that accelerates to 60 in under 6 seconds has smaller lighter wheels fitted over standard. The video uploaded claimed the ligher wheels helped acceleration but said their speedo was 100% accurate as well which i found hard to believe.

I drove my friends one back from work once before. Even though it had 100k miles on it, it was hard to fault it and no rattles / knocks and even the gears were smooth and tight feeling. I never properly pushed it but was in it a few times when he was giving it some. Handled great for it's size and weight but even with the K&N typhoon induction kit it felt like it would have been more fun with some extra ponies under the bonnet.

His one used to drop out of vtec as well from third to fourth. You could even bring it to the limiter before changing up and it would drop out of vtec for a second or two.

This was before he fitted the 16", lightweight wheels. I think it was evo magazine that had it noted as 6.1 seconds 0-60. Also mine never dropped out of Vtec between 3/4, it depends how good you are at getting it right up to the limiter.

I agree could maybe have done with 250-300bhp. Difficult to get any more power out of them though. I know someone who removed a lot of weight instead and had it at 200bhp per tonne
