  • corsa service history?

Hi all, my Corsa had little history with it when purchased. Is there any way of fi ding out if there is a central database at Vauxhall? I'm not sure which dealer it came from and the model is 1996.

You could try going to your local Vauxhall dealership and asking at the service counter, but I'd be surprised if any digital records were kept, especially on a car that old.

Not sure if you are trying to trace its history from a heritage point of view as a future classic, or its past service history as a future possible mechanical nightmare.
You may not get much help with the former. Vauxhall may be willing to tell you the date it left the production line and supplying dealer and whether it has had all its recalls .
If you already own the car in my opinion its best not to know about the latter. Just accept it for what it is.

Nice as it is to get a full service history it not uncommon for a 20 year old car to have nothing. It may not have been in a main dealer for years. With a car this age its current condition that matters most. If it looks like its well cared for,and runs well thats more important than mileages or bits of paper.Neither are guarantees. Just get it serviced yourself and start off with a clean sheet.
If you delve too deeply you may find things you would rather not know. For instance It may have once been declared an insurance write off just because it needed a new wing or something like that. Or the mileage is not quite right. You will then lose confidence in a perfectly good little car.

Just my opinion and others may disagree. None of this applies for an intending buyer. Of course you check out all you can before deciding to part with cash.

Thank you for your reply. Obviously a 20 yr old car is what it is mechanically. It was more from a heritage perspective I was thinking. I know VW have a birth certificate with the info on, not sure if there is a GM equivilant....

You can get previous mot and advisories etc online. Need some details from the v5. I can't remember the site, but quick Google should bring it up
