My partner has just received a speeding ticket for doing 36 in a 30 zone. Is it better to take the 3 points or do the awareness course? Which will work out cheaper in the long run?

I got done for 38 in a 30 on way to PVS. My course is booked for October.
I mainly chose it to avoid Extra question each time I quote for insurance, plus wanted to keep my clean license

My wife did the course, never been asked about it on insurance, only if there are any convictions. I'd go for the course.

Think she's resigned to going on it. Serves her right for speeding down a road with a fixed camera that's been there for over 10 years.

On principle take the points, the courses pay for the cameras.

That a side the course is probably the cheapest, however the admiral group are now asking if you have been on a course and some companies do not load for an SP30.

as far as I'm aware its only admiral and its associated companies that ask. when i did mine i asked the quy there and he told me even if they ask your not obligated to tell them. (although id always be bit wairy about lying to an insurance company.) although the course is boring, its defiantly worth it to keep your licence clean. also personally i felt i learnt quite a lot on the course and has made me think twice about my speed around built-up areas.
