  • Gearbox, diff & transfer box recommendations HERE

Getting the right oil for gearboxes, diffs and transfer boxes can be tricky, so please ask here if there is any information that you need.

To help us to give the most accurate advice possible we do need some information about your car. e.g.
    Make:
    Model:
    Year:
    Manual/Auto:
    Performance Modifications:
Driving style: (road / off-road / track etc.)
Any other information that may be relevant: e.g. approx BHP if modified, any transmission problems
What recommendation are you looking for? Gearbox, diffs, limited slip diffs, transfer boxes etc

Any oil we recommend is available to buy from us (if you would like to) for delivery throughout the UK and many destinations Worldwide. We offer a really extensive range of oils and lubricants from 11 major oil manufacturers at prices much lower than the high street and main dealers. We stock oils and fluids that meet pretty much all manufacturers and international specifications. Any questions please ask here or contact us via email at [email protected]

Finally, if there are any products we don't stock and you have difficulty getting hold of elsewhere, let us know and we'll see if we can stock them.

We look forward to being of help!

    Make: Nissan

    Model: Skyline R33 GTS-T

    Year: 1998

    Transmission/Engine: Manual (RB25DET)

For general fast road use, the car is stage 1 (320bhp, standard drivetrain). Can you recommend a transmission oil, and also a rear diff oil for it please?

Welcome to the new site Tim

      Make: Seat
      Model: Ibiza FR 1.9TDi
      Year: 2006
Manual/Auto: Manual, 6 speed VAG gearbox (0M2 IIRC)
Performance Modifications: Sachs uprated organic clutch (still has DMF), turbo back exhaust, remap. (approx 170bhp, 280ft/lb
Driving style: Granny driving 80% of the time, with occasional fast road.

About to fit a new dual mass flywheel to the car, with remap and Sachs organic clutch.
Car is on original gearbox oil as far as i know with 106k miles on it.

What's the standard gearbox oil type for my car, and do you know of anything that's better than the standard gearbox oil that the VAG group use normally?

          Hi

          Sorry for the delay.

          This is ideal.

Fuchs TITAN SINTOFLUID FE SAE 75W synthetic manual transmission oil

My boss has been using it in his Leon Cupra Tdi (about 200bhp now) for about 3 years with no issues at all.

          Cheers

          Tim

I dunno, adding a good oil lubricant can help lubricate a vag just as well as the vag's own lubricant

It'll be here in under two weeks, and I'd like to buy decent fluids to cover the things that the importers arent going to be doing for me.

Just buy it elsewhere soon tbh

                            Hi

Sorry, it looks like we didn't get a notification of the post for some reason.

You need a 75w-90 for the gearbox and diff.

75w-90 Gear Oils for your Car from Opie Oils

If you want to go for the best, the Millers CRX 75w-90 NT, Gulf Competition, Motul Gear 300, Red Line MT90 and Millers TRX are ideal for the gearbox. The Castrol Universal/Universal Plus/Syntrans Multivehicle, Motul Motylgear and Fuchs Gear Syn are all decent alternatives. The Fuchs Syn 5, Millers CRX, Redline 75w-90 GL5, Motul Gear 300 and Gulf Competition are ideal for the diff. The Fuchs Sintopoid, Castrol Syntrax Longlife, Millers TRX, Motul Motylgear, Mobil SHC and Amsoil FGR are also good choices.

                            Cheers
