How bad are sunny branded tyres? If I'm looking for a decent set of tyres for a non racey long haul/high mileage car what would I be looking for brand wise?

          Road noise
          Quality
          Life span

          Best factors for me?

My rears sometimes slip on corners in wet but tread is ages away from bald.

If you have to ask how bad a brand of tyre is because you've never heard of the brand of tyre in question. Then you've kinda answered your own question. Cheap tyres are death traps. It'd be like you wearing sandles in the snow. Always buy the best tyres you can afford. Don't skimp.

My thoughts exactly.. I want to change mine sooner then later after brakes are redone.

What brands would be decent for what I do though?

Are they not variations depending on what your after?

              Never bought tyres before.

All UK tyres have to be meet the minimum UK requirement before they can be sold to be used on our roads. The vast majority of car owners fit the cheapest mis-matched tyres they can get and don't suddenly slide off the road. Cheap tyres will normally increase your braking distance and will grip as well in the corners, they aren't going to be as good as premium tyres but they will be ok.

This company aren't based in the UK though so some of the tyres they sell may not meet UK standards.

I'd still much rather stick to a known brand, or a tyre that at least has good reviews online.
