  • New Car Suggestions

Don't worry, I'm not getting rid of my coal burning Corsa just yet! It gives me unlimited MPG so I don't really want to get rid of it just yet.. Just want something fun for when I'm not doing long distance driving. That will continue for years to come (unless the engine blows up )

    Things to consider
Now I'm 19 (20 soon) with 2 years no claims my insurance is really good surprisingly and it opens up so many doors for all sorts of cars.
Insurance is still something to consider, I still can't get insured on something with an engine over 2.0L IF it is Turbo'd. So I'd like something under that but that has a turbo. TURBO. Turbo... Someone say turbo? But yeah, something under 2.0L with a turboBudget?Cars I have already Considered WITH PICS

    Audi S3 Quattro (8L) [225] 1.8T
225Bhp 0-60 in around 6.6 seconds when standard
4 wheel drive is a massive plus
It's an Audi, never heard a bad thing about them and my Dad has an A6 2.5 Quattro derv and it's a brilliant car.
Come with full leather interior with Recaro front seats

    Seat Leon Cupra R [225] 1.8T
225Bhp (basically same engine as the S3) heavier car so 0-60 is 6.9 seconds standard
Front wheel drive puts me off a bit
However, these look nice from the front BUT not from the back..

Also considered a Golf GTi but they are considerably slower than the other two even if they are basically the same underneath as most VAG cars are. VR6 maybe?

Notice I haven't included any Vauxhall's, I wouldn't mind another and I did consider a Corsa VXR but they are a bit out of my budget right now.

Suggestions on anything else? I know I suggested a turbo'd car A LOT throughout but I wouldn't mind a VTEC at a push but only IF it can be quicker AND still sound better than anything else suggested. Hard to beat a turbo imo.

Astra coupe turbo? Decent ones are around 2.5k and 300bhp is easily achieved.

                Mk4 astra GSI

                Toyota Starlet glanza V

                Subaru impreza wrx sri

As above mr2 turbo, 230ish bhp standard.

                C20let corsa

If non turbo a type-r would be right in your budget and their easily pushing 220bhp with filter exhaust and remap.

                  Cheers Sam!

With the Subaru as it is one of my all time favourites I would defiantly go for that! BUT because of the name insurance companies won't touch me until I'm 25 in most cases :'(

No worries, Worth looking into the type R though, someone I know has one with the spec above and he's got a print out of 222whp. Experienced it and its epic! Plug and play ecu so its easy to do as well.

Not surprised they'll only touch me on the evo in July when I've been driving for 4 years with 2 years ncb.
Leon's are good but over my way every man and their dog has one so it puts me off them. Don't think insurance on a Glanza would be too bad . I like the Audi for the quality factor and their quick but I don't think their that exciting to drive.

Gotta agree on that, it'd be comfy but not exciting i guess!

Well, I am keeping my Corsa derv for the daily commute so i guess I can leave the hatchback behind. I would get a BMW but the majority of BMW drivers annoy me (get cut up a lot by them) so i don't want to be one really.. although I do like the cars a lot it's a hard decision haha.

MX5 I would go with, do really like them. What sort of Lotus are you thinking of?

Also Porsche boxsters are in your budget but I have no idea what the insurance would be like.

Also, out of interest, why are you keeping the corsa for the commute. Is it purely an fuel economy reason?

Not keen on Porsche's personally. In regard to fuel economy, yes exactly that. I like getting 50-55Mpg when driving to University and I've spent too much on my car to just get rid of it, I still enjoy driving it and will continue to work on it for a couple years I should think!
