  • New corsa VXR engine?

I'm guessing that this will be the new corsa VXR engine, maybe even in a facelifted version of the current one. mpg is up to 51 as opposed to 38 for the current engine.

Links aren't working great for me in my phone. Don't know anything about the new vxr, but know they're meant to be bringing out some nippy turbo petrol engines for the Adam soon.

I was looking for info on what will be the 'corsa E' a while back and it seems that there will be one more facelift before a new model is brought out, but with their new range of engines. I find it a bit odd that you wouldn't bring in new engines with a brand new model, to make the most of them.

I suppose it's how the model sells, every time manufactures make a new chassis or shell it's a gamble if it takes off.

Puma, cougar's little bit of a flop

          Fiesta still being made today.

The Corsa D was hated at first because of the new styling now there like rabbits. What is great is how much power can be dragged out of smaller cc cars, but how cheap they are to run in regards to tax, insurance and fuel costs.

The D is actually a nice drive (although the 1.4 could do with more power)

I really like Soph's D. Not powerful, but very solidly built, the LE's sportier suspension and wide alloys means it handles well and it's more than capable plodding along in the town or motorway. Not got a very good gearbox mind.

Prefered my broken B to my D to be honest, found it very boring

Engine capacity is getting smaller with forced induction the new qashqai is having a 1.2 supercharged engine which is underpowered in the micra

I worry about longevity with these small FI engines. Look at 5-10 year old diesels; injectors, turbos, DPF, DMF, EGR, etc. I could be wrong, hope I am, but I would like to see them last 10 years before buying one myself.

I see your point Tim and slightly agree. But engines are leaps and bounds more forward than they were, that said old points still stand.

If it's been looked after should go for a good while.

If it's not been looked after same rules as cars ATM.

                          If that makes sense.

I would tend to agree but FI puts more stress on an engine, there is talk of 177bhp from fords new 1.0 ecoboost. That is more bhp per litre than my Evo had and, although reliable, it did have a rebuild before I bought it and had only done 80,000km.

1.0 ecoboost with that sort of bhp surely will be rubbish to 60 and be running small boost though?

But agree there a lot of strain.
