The only change is Soph will get next year's no claims bonus as opposed to me. Worth it to save 200 quid.

From when I used to run quotes the prices were exactly the same as not being would be against European law.

Soph's 7 months younger than me. She owns the car but her Mum's name is on the V5.

Yep, like I said everything is identical. The only difference being the name of the person on the policy. Either way I am down as the main driver.

Yep live together. Yeah our careers are different, but again that should be irrelevant as I'm down as the main driver in both instances.

I'd contact the insurer to query to be honest.

Makes perfect sense, her being the keeper of the car reduces the risk therefore it is cheaper to insure it in her name.

Soph's the legal owner, her mum is the registered keeper. Her mum lives in Devon, we live in Derby.

Do you need to inform them the V5 is in someone elses name, if they're not the owner?

How do insurance companies check who the owner is? I thought they just checked the V5 and assumed that was the owner in the event of any claims.

Yep they know Soph's Mum is on the V5. All insurance companies want to know that, some others also want to know who the legal owner is, which is Soph.
