FirstCar! Budget Corsa C (pic heavy)

Hey guys! been into cars since forever but i just got my first one that i'll be driving! so here it is:

    Corsa C SXi

okay so its quite rough, but i really can't complain for 670.

first job was to get a new windscreeen, autoglass wanted 270 but i got a mate for 100 and a pint

then i used what was left of my 1000 to buy some wheeeels!

managed to pick up a set of RH cup ripoffs for cheaps from a guy in Leaven, but the obviously need refubed...

    supliesssss!

hopefully gonna have it sitting something along these lines when im done (minus the spoiler)

the car's paint needs some serious correction so i'll hopefully borrow a DA and take care of that, refurb the wheels, lower and a few other little bits, and that should be a good start!

Yeah mate, seen yours earlier it looks clean for the age, my paintwork's shot for its age!

I'll probably do a oil change, fuel and oil filters and spark plugs in the new year, too cold right now!
it wouldnt start this morning but i reckon its just the weather and the fact it isnt getting run arround in, hope it's not needing a new battery!

hey guys, due to the weather and lack of time ive hardly got anything done! heres a few wee snaps though:

smoothed the back end and 'borrrowed' an irmy back box from my cousin!

also this came today but mother dearst has informed me its going away till crimbo!

also if anyone has'nt experinced this, go buy one now!

    best smell ever!

so paint correction will start in january, anyone got any tips for compounds that go well with vauxhall paint? not sure of the hardness..

put a 5ers worth of fuel in and jumped the car the other day but all 4 wheels were seized soild, after a combo of wheel spinning (wasnt fun... honest and jakcing up and hitting with a big hammer (actually wasnt fun atall) they loosened up, so im going out to hopefully start it off the key in ten mins!wish me luck!

Seems pretty clean, unlike corsa b's they hardly rust at all so you have a clean base to work from! Will keep an eye on this.

I wish I had a decent polisher. You think mine looks clean for age but it is quite swirly in the light. Quite possible I can get them out but been quite lazy about it as it's a fair bit of work to get the overspray off first.

Has it been left for ages to cease up like that?

Give it a good service - like a proper job - you know it makes sense.

That's a lot of car for the money by the way.

    whats mileage?

I paid 1300 for mine and mines a 52, 53k miles though on mine which is OK & running.

give it a nice going over asap so you know its sound, day2 on mine a bodged fuel filter service (not by me) had me break down with a fuel leak for a 1.50 clip...

Yeah you guys make a good point, ill add a proper service to the todo list!
the cars high milage, 105k but the engine was totally rebuilt at 80k, so it effectively has 25k on it and yeah, i left it for about a week or so not moving in the recent bad weather with the handbrake on so i guess thats what was stuck, the front wheels were just laggy from surface rust on the disks!

Here is a closeup of the paint:

im going to colour code a few bits on the engine bay as well as detail it, any ideas for cool colours?

also seen a guy with an opc plug cover, anyone know if you get them or if it was just a sticker?

im now gonna steal tomush's format for the list:

    short term todo's
    PASS DRIVING TEST (tuesday)
    Service
    full detail
    paint correction
    wheel refurb
    lower on coilies
    pressed plates
    paint v grill
new seats( any ideas of nice cheap oem ones?)
    new interior gaiters (black leather)
get spiggot rings for new wheels
tailored mats (in the post- carmats4u black 980gsm ones)
    paint callipers/drums

    long term todo's
    smooth bumper inserts
    private plate (J22DRN)
    sri grills
if i keep it long enough (unlikely) maybe an SRI engine swap with all running gear

Ah nice, my paint isn't much worse off to be honest although I don't have the scratches on the front.

Nothing like new plugs and an oil change and the rest to get the car in tip-top shape, you'll notice other things possible as you do it also.

Look forward to seeing you bust out the DA on it, I would love to properly restore mine but weathers just pants.

Yeah man, ill probably have to go balls deep and wet sand those scratches and a few others out! the paint wont ever be spotlessly perfect, as its had a new rear bumper at one point which has had a bit of a dodgy respray, also i dunno if you spotted but my irmy front splitter must have see the wrong side of a pavement, so ill have to repair that too.
where are ya from shaggy? Weather is balls here too! Im trying to sweet talk my aunt into letting me take over her out house/ barn and turn it into a booth of some sort

Weathers crap for loads of people. From Middlesbrough.

Think I've had a similar thing with my rear bumper actually. It's had a bump in it's life.
Lol. You'll notice all sorts of little things, I was getting well wound up by my broken parcel shelf clip as made an awful noise all the time... The smallest thing but yeah. Had to sort it.

yeah man, dont suppose anyone knows of any users in centeral scotland?

i know, so many little details wind me up!

my aerial base is plastic worn black/grey and my stubby aerial is gloss black really does my head in!

cannot wait to get the wheels done/ lowered but ive given up on the wheels untill i have a garage to do them in (hopefully next weekend) and christmas money will probably buy my coilies, then the paint correction just after christmas, hopefully be mostly done for new years!

painted my V grill gloss black tonight, ill probably give it another coat tomorow and fit on monday.

insurance quote in, i was expecting 2000, but managed 1750 fully comp all mods declared!!

smoked indicators are also definately on the cards!

Just a quick update with the painted v-grill test fitted, still needs another coat of paint but im quite happy, it almost looks factory!
you can see the state of the irmy splitter abit clearer here, not sure weather to attempt repair or just to buy a new one

Sell the splitter, you'll get a lot of money for it! Then use the money to get the bumper smoothed

im seriously considering selling the irmy splitter, any idea how much id get for it damaged?
and how much to smooth and paint a front bumper if i done the prep and sanding the filler?

I sold my splitter after my mate done a little restore on it and sold it for 130 (including postage)

To smooth the bumper you'll need sand paper and lots if filler and that's all it'll cost you but remember gotta get it reaprayed after that so another 100+
