There was a band playing at the time, around 100 people inside.

3 people confirmed dead, with more injured. From reports it just dropped out of the sky

Heard about it last night. We usually see them landing now and then from my work where this one crashed but wasn't working last night when it happened. Been wondering what caused it, if mechanical fault or pilot issue

Think initial thoughts are mechanical failure.

Rotor blades are largely intact, indicating a low rotor speed on impact. And eyewitnesses report hearing a sudden change in the sound of it before it fell from the sky.

That's what always scared me when i went to RAF airshows with the helicopter rides. If a planes engines fail you can slide glide and have a controlled landling, but no idea what you can do when that happens to a helicopter

It's called autorotation - allowing a controlled descent. But in this case I gather the tail rotor may have failed which would the same cause as the helicopter crash in Llanberis some years ago. We were there at the time and were close to were it came down. The pilot has very much reduced control in such an event.

apparently helicopter was going down, pilot thoufht fast annd turned off both fuel supply lines making the damage a lot less. which could of been the change in engine sound.

my dsd reckons it could of been an SAS job. getting rid of someone acidentilly. i highly doubt this but you never know

Doubt it. Not saying SAS/MI5 don't get rid of people however they won't get innocent lives caught up in it.

Not really, if they want rid of one person they get rid of one person. SAS and MI5 are only humans, they don't want to kill innocent people.

Guys - some of these comments aren't really appropriate when so many families will be devastated by this accident.
