    Need a new laptop

Hey guys. I need a laptop as I'm going away for a few weeks at a time over the next 3 years so I need something that is going to last.

Ideally I want something that is going to be able to run some decent games with decent audio and a good screen.
Guessing as windows 8 is based on touchscreen i would also like that.
Needs a decent hard drive it not that important as I can buy an external.

Can't really be anymore then 1000 and needs to be from somewhere that I can get finance from.

    Anyone got any recommendations?

I can't see any sub 1k laptop running decent games. Maybe on lowest settings if you're lucky.

I'm not going to going nuts with games. Probably mainly games like eve and a few racing games. I won't be playing hardcore it's more to pass the time whilst I'm away

If your a hardcore gamer id say Alienware, or if you had the spare cash also.

I got myself a HP Pavilion last year and i just checked out the latest games i wanted to play and got my HP just above the spec of the games for less than 700

i doubt it will run the latest games now, but a good spec laptop can be had for 500/700

Dell now do a range of Alienware Gaming Laptops. Whilst I hate Alienware personally, and hate Dell equally, the partnership is an interesting thing. The models start at 845 and all of them are available on payment plans if you dont want to drop 1k+ in one hit. Thats probably your best option. Any other brand laptop that claims "gaming laptop" or "gaming experience" is frankly going to be lieing, and it'll be ****. End of.

Also, having a read through the 845 models reviews. There are people running Splinter Cell: Blacklist on Ultra settings on them perfectly fine.

I always take that with a pinch of salt. My friend's PC used to run BF3 at around 25fps and that was "fine" to him but horrific for me

Granted, but if people are running things on Ultra and its ok to them, lets take your example of 25fps, then they could logically also run them at even better frames if they tweaked the settings like any normal person would. The point was that none of them are saying they cant run anything or theyre getting choppy frames etc..

Yeah I'm going to have a look when I get back from work. Although I worry 14inch screen won't be big enough but it's worth a look still

I think Dell own them, rather than it being a partnership.

I'm also not a fan of Alienware or Dell PCs, with Alienware you pay more for the brand when laptops elsewhere will be just as good for less money.

    Seems good spec to me.
My friend's one he got was pretty similar spec wise

Make sure you have the power cable plugged in when doing anything intensive as my friends was running rough in games for ages before we realised you can't do demanding stuff without the cable connected
