    Creating an 'office'

I have a large cuborad in my flat .. I'm interested in making it into a small office/computer room there are no plugs in there also the gas meter for topping up gas is in there .. There is already a hole in the top of the wall and over the hallway into the bedroom for a cable .. But I'd need a realllllly long extension cord .. Is it legal/possible to get a plug in there myself or even to build a desk in there cause of gas meter

Not sure on your questions, however is it somewhere you would like to sit?

An office hidden away can be depressing and stop you going to it, defeating the purpose.

I wouldn't say it's horrible .. No windows though and is quite small

Questions are basically 1. How can I get a new plug socket in a room without one and can I do it myself
    2. Am I alowed to make a room with gas meter In the corner into an 'office' an I'm using the term office loosely probably more of a man room would perhaps be suitable

Yes you can run a plug, I don't believe you are allowed without training. Who's going to know though?

Hoppy, I really advise against you fitting you're own plug socket lol get it done properly or just use a reel extension much cheaper and easier

Ok .. Well I can run an extension through the hole in the top of the wall .. But there'll be a plug in bedroom sand the wire will be going across bedroom .. Also how can I get the wire through the holes .. There is a plastic covering where previous person had clearly done the same

My dad rewired their house, he does work in electricity (cable jointer on high powered live lines) but never trained in household wiring. Still works now, could sell it as is however it wouldn't have the appropriate certificates.

Thats awesome! Would it cost a lot to get the relevant certificates, do you just need to get a household electrician round to double check it all?

Doesnt the plastic wire-run that your talking about clip off from the front? so you can slide your wires in then clip it back to hide it?

Most wont issue the certificate if they haven't done it.

Sounds like a propper hassle, get yourself a laptop and a laptop stand - godsend if your stuck for space although costly.
