V5 & Car Being Wrote Off - What's The Process?

As most know, my Corsa got wrote off in June there.

I received a letter in July asking me to send off my V5 document with the yellow section filled in as my vehicle was handed over to a third party's insurance company after a value was agreed.
The letter was received just over a week after the vehicle was uplifted to a salvage yard.

The problem i have now is although this insurance company have asked me to send away the V5 to be registered as Salvage in their name, that part of the V5 requires the signature of either the Salvage company or the insurer, both are no where near me.

Can i send the V5 with a covering letter from me and a duplicate of the letter from the insurance company instructing me to transfer it to their ownership, or will DVLA likely reject this due to the lack of signature?

To be on the safe side I'd ring the DVLA and ask what they advise you to do. It must be a pretty frequent issue so I guess they'll have a recommended procedure for these circumstances.

When ever an insurer wrote a car off with us they would just request the v5 and sort it out. Just send it to them and they'll sort it.

Called DVLA this morning just to check. Although on that section on the V5 it says it needs boh signatures by law, they told me it really only needs one since it's an insurance company rather than an individual.
Will send them the insurance company's covering letter though just so they know there are no problems.
