    Radio Controlled Stuff

Well at some point most of us have had something like so:

    Or this

    Radio Controlled Stuff-477051207_114.jpg

Well I had a battery boat when I was younger but they were nowhere near as good as the Nitro (Not in my eyes), so with the 5 and a bit weeks I haven't been smoking I though what the hell.....

But Nitro boats in most enthusiast's eyes arent as good as these:

So it came and had been taken apart (To be rebuilt by previous owner??). So I set about checking EVERYTHING as I built it back up.

My problem with boats is like what happened in that video, what do you do when it lands upside down in a lake or breakdowns. **** swimming to get it.

Well I had this a couple of weeks ago with a battery one got it stuck but luckily a passing barge fished it out lol. But this type seal very well so shouldn't leak water in or if it does it will be a table spoons worth. (Hopefully)

My next issue was the red connector tops there no good for the boats set up and nowadays you don't get different types with the radio gear.

However I found in the attic some spares that you used to get. (Think they came with my nitro plane).

    So lucky me borrowed them:

So when I move the thumb stick left I have left and right I have right :-). Will tidy up the white servo arm later.

I have a few RC models myself but all need repairs.
The gearboxes and differentials aren't a fan of my driving.

JT the lipo are brilliant and easily tunable to some good top speeds, just what happens to the batteries if things go wrong that put me off lol.

Tam you have a brilliant collection there do you use plastic drive gears or brass?, My old man has a beetle that use's the strimmer / hedge cutter engine.

I will post some pictures up of that as it's fun to use even though it only does 25mph it's how fast it gets there lol.

Plastic drive gears in most models with metal differential gears.
The truck you see in the water shredded the rear axel's gears though and they were all metal. Poorly crafted though with cheap junk metal so i got ones from a tougher model, little DIY with the dremmel and some shims and it'll never break again.

I've got some brushless motors and lipo ready to try but not had the chance yet. Mines are mostly brushed and all electric atm.
Lipo seems fine, get some fire proof bags from ebay for transport and fire proof container to charge them in. I get them all from Hobbyking in USA and they're as cheap as chips

I've got some 2s Lipos just now and some EZrun brushless systems so just need to get the finger out and get them all sorted and have fun. Annoyed i haven't already as the weather is awesome for it.
I wouldn't trust myself with 3s Lipo though. I'd like to think i'm good at driving my trucks but 3s is a bit too insane still.

These are the other two I have, the white one was given me and can be bought complete for a mere 20 - 30. So it's not very good top speed 10-14 mph, and I always seem to get it stuck as it's very poor on receiver responce.

    [IMG][/IMG]

This little one I just bought for 35 ish and is good fun use's a mirco servo for turning, and use's a small 7.2v 650 mah battery. Top speed 24 - 28mph.

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

You get the idea of the size by the 2000 mah battery I put next too it lol.

How long does the 2000 pack last for?

Have you heard of deans connections before? I use them now rather than the Tamiya ones. Less resistance so a bit more punchy when you give it a lot of power from standstill. Less voltage drop under load.
