Corsa C Heater working only on full

For a couple of weeks now i've had the heating only available on full blast (used to work on all individual settings) and then yesterday it decided to not work at all. Had a look in the fuse box and it blew the fuse so got a new one put in and i still only have it available on full blast! I then went to a breakers yard and for a hew heater control panel and it still has the same problem.

Here is a video of the problem just incase i didn't describe it properly. (new heater control panel)

    Thanks in advance

That will be your heater resistor pack thats cooked itself.

The settings 1, 2, and 3 run through the resistor, to drop the voltage down and operate the blower motor at reduced speed. Setting 4 bypasses the resistor pack and feeds 12v to the blower motor for full speed, so thats why 4 still works, as its a direct connection.

The resistor pack is attached to the back of the blower motor, which on a C i believe is up behind the dash in the passengers footwell. The resistor pack should unclip from the back of the blower motor itself, and you can obviously fit a replacement at the point.

    Luckily they are pretty cheap - Opel Heater Blower Motor Resistor For Corsa B C 1.0 1.2 1.4 1.5 1.6 1845781 EU04 | eBay

Thanks Dave! I know the part you are on about I saw it today and thought it was something to do with that, ironically my mechanic friend said it wasn't that and it needed another new panel as it was faulty..

Haha, no problem, its a common thing on most cars tbh. The fuse blowing is probably a side effect of the resistor pack shorting out. Winter months I used to get a lot of people come into Maplin buying high wattage resistors to make up their own packs as their cars heater resistors were hundreds of pounds to buy from a dealer... :/
