    Temperature Sensor / MFD reading

Hi all, forgot to post about this. My MFD shows -.- degrees as temperature on my MFD. Any ideas where the sensor is in the car or where it plugs in as I'm getting no reading?

Usually just behind the front bumper - I repaired a C last year and I have a spare loom for the sensor somewhere lurking around. The cable runs behind the lower black grill bit to the sensor.

I'm hoping mine is nuts unplugged. I'll try find the sensor and it's wiring first and see if I can work out why it's not working. Thanks

Was further down, found it and fitted a replacement sensor, no read out yet.

Could it take time for it to kick in before readout appears on MFD? FYI this wasnt working even before I fitted my radio and when the stock (without PIN/Safe Mode) radio was still in car.

Should work instantly. Probably a break in the wire somewhere, most likely the part of the loom between the sender unit and the next plug along. I've got a spare one lying around somewhere. PM your address and I'll pop it in the post.

Sender unit ? Loom? I've checked behind radio and seems ok there. Not sure where the loom is you mention but could find it and inspect it first maybe?

Sender is behind the bumper. There's a short loom between that and a connector on the n/s of the bumper.

It's in the post - I had to take the clip of the larger connector to make it fit under the postage limit of 25mm. It's loose in the envelope, you'll see where it slide into the larger connector to attach it to the bumper. Just wanted to make sure you knew there was a small loose bit in there as well as the wire.

Thanks a lot Tarus, forgot to give you my name didn't I

The loom/wire came, I'll give this a go and see if it works, If not - could it be the bit between the MFD/and this section?

If it's not the first part of the loom which is the bit most vulnerable to damage then it could be anywhere. To be honest if that proved to be the case I'd just ignore it.

Yeah just got another sensor to see if it was that. May as well try your loom/wire and see how it fairs. If not I'll probably ignore it. Just sorting out any issues.

had a quick look today, think this isnt the right one as I have front fogs, is that correct?

Will still use it for testing though.

No idea what was on the car that loom came off - it was a repair job for someone and I had that left over at the end. But it'll do to test any road.

Now I got axle stands I came across this.

Its near the passenger side fog / rad.

Is this the cause of the sensor fail you think?

It looks like the bit that goes into a FOG version of the loom you sent.

That's the same connector as on the piece I sent you, so yes I'd suspect you've found the problem. The one I had probably came off a model without fogs, but you can easily make up new connectors to replace those.

I Dont get the connections.. are they crimped on the end or something? Plastic has rotted away on the green ends inside the black socket. Will have to check halfords and see if they have any connectors like that and try go about sorting them.

Could be a cut and clip job or solder if they are soldered on?

Just hope it's only sensor and Fogs on this loom lol.

That's me for today though, I've been up so since yesterday. Tomorrow I shall try fix it.
