    Central Locking / Locking Fault

    This has been an on-going issue and since the car locked me out the other day until the Police came to help me I really need to get this fixed, I cant afford to lose the ability to get in my car as I need it for work.

    The problem is as follows and has degraded a little;

    - I can lock and unlock manually.
    - I can lock with central locking button

    - I cant unlock with central locking as the pin tries to rise but then rattles then locks itself.
    - When closing door and pulling handle the pin jams then drops and then locks itself.

    I am trying to work out what is at fault, I have had a hard enough time getting the door card off as the winder spring has launched itself somewhere in the car and many clips seems to have snapped :facepalm:

    But I have behind the plastic sheet and I can see the locking mechanisms.

    The pin is attached via a cable and so is the handle and not sure how to remove the pin wire yet, I am having issues trying to work out what is at fault due to the symptoms above. If it was just the central locking motor then why is it been a dick and locking me out when the door closes? Is the handle at fault? Maybe pulling the pin down when it shouldn't, I have tried to WD40 bits of it but I think that made it worse (starting to lock behind me when I close as it didn't do this when issue started).

    In short, does anyone know what part is at fault from the above description?
    What part is it that I should replace as would like to buy a replacement now so I can fit / diagnose it all in one sitting as cant leave car unlocked over night.

    This is the part I was trying to get out and I believe its correct but I think everything including the handle needs to come out together for me to look at the motor and see if I can clean it up?

    I am a bit past this stage and in the plastic looking at the locking motor.

    I had this problem when I changed the handle on my old C. I fixed it by playing with the catch on the door itself. I know this sounds stupid, but it might be worth just following a Haynes manual and take the parts out and put them back in part at a time and identify the problem like that.

    I believe my issue was with the rod what connects the handle to the motor, it was put back in the wrong way and wouldn't lock properly. All I know is after refitting it all and playing with the catch it fixed it and to this day my mate has had no troubles with it after I sold it to him either.

    I'm really going to have to pick up a Haynes tomorrow when I finished work at 8am.

    When you say "catch" what do you mean? The metal mechanism that latches around the cylinder shape when the door is closed to or you mean the springs/parts in the handle itself?

    I do think I understand the part that you mean, could it be the rod from the pin also since it seems to dip or is that purely cosmetic and I should focus on all other parts?

    And thanks

    Ok my hands are raw from playing with this. They is an adjustment cog for the external handle cable that if I tighten clockwise to tightest point stops the door from locking when handle is pulled when closed too. It does not stop the pin rattle then give up when using central locking. If I loosen the cog anti clockwise even a little it makes the door pin drop upon pulling of external handle when door has been closed. They is a point where this allows the use of central locking however the door still half time does the lock after closed issue

    So it's finding an imbetween setting but none work. I've liked it all as best as but could not open the motor unit itself.

    Does it sound like the motor has had it and tightening cogs is just over compensating one way or other.???

    Someone please help LOL

    Lol. Fixed changed motor as couldn't get mine to unstick but may have a look inside it if I can get into it. Looked like a sealed unit. Went to breakers and rippled one out of a five door. Saw so many dead Corsas and felt a bit sad as they were nowhere near as old. Had all electrical perks and better seats but left to rot.

    I have a few other issues due to my shoddy workmyship and due to the **** quality of plastic. My door card lost many clips coming off including the main clip for the door hand pull handle (not the one that opens latch).

    The door pin is lower so when unlocked still looks looked but it all works. There is no play so don't know how this is out as don't think I could adjust it. Maybe pin inself can be pulled up along cable ?

    Tweeter panel in **** state also. It is on but like door card is a bit flexy since its been pulled off.

    Images to follow but to be honest making a tut for this is complex but I think I'll give it a go. The issue could vary so anyone wanting to get it fixed will have to mess about with the system like I did in order to understand how it works (makes no damn sence when you first lay eyes on it )

    The system itself is pretty simple but on apprences seemed to blow my mind.

    To break it up into visual items you havel

    1) The Motor itself - Sqaure shaped thing with rods and what look like bent tent pegs coming off it
    2) Rod with pin on end.
    3) metal back plate lock holder that sits behind external handle
    3) tent peg hook that connects external handle back plate to motor
    4) tent peg hook that connects internal handle to motor

    Getting it out was a pain at first, but you must accept the whole thing needs to disassembled in order to get it out. I will try and post up more detailed images and a tut in the future if anyone wants help with this issue I am more than happy to help you in the meantime until a guide can be put up (hopefully someone can assist and we can piece up different areas together of the lock system and its faults).

    Images;

    Door card and tweeter panel off

    I made a diagram to explain how it works ... I think it is correct but I know jack about cars

    These images make it look easy but I had been awake 2 days and knew jack and spent most the day on this;

    Sealed plastic coating to keep out grime and moisture.

    My tweeter is a bit flexy, the handle I grab to close door is a bit flimsy and door pin is a bit sunken so hard to pull when locked.
