    Traitor thread... I'm sorry

Well I found a new car, within budget, miles, age and high decent spec... And a brand I kinda wanted all along

A mate of mine has the ZS D. It was a nice car all around, but I'm not a fan of diesels to be honest.

So, is it the engine you hate or the whole car?

Is there some things I should know?

I looked at these before buying my MR2. They look really nice but I couldn't get over the cheap interior (the plastic gear gator really annoys me in these Fiestas!) and it wasn't as fast as it should be.

The ST uses a full leather one.

ANd the others are directly interchangable with Mondeo leather ones.

Fair enough. Didn't realise it was only the lower spec ones. Looks like its straight out a transit or something!
I didn't look into them that much cos my budget could only get me an older rough one.

Is there much power to gain without having to turbo it?
    Get some pics up!

I should get some pictures up soon.
Problem is, I don't use the PC at home and photobucket is blocked at work ,

I agree with the Gear gaitor, the worst bit of the car on the other models...

The price of the car is about the same as a Zetec S. But the insurance group is about 8-10 groups higher I think. Tax is 220 a year. And obviously drinks a bit more fuel.
But it's worth it. Absolutely cracking car.

150BHP. Not a lot compared to other hot hatches. But that's why they built the Focus RS. The Fez ST is more of a warm hatch. The power for me is a lot coming from a old corsa 1.0 3 pot. Havn't had a chance to test the handling properly yet. But all the review give it 5/5 as it's meant to be like a go kart.

Practical, except for getting into the rear seats as the bucket seats are quite deep. But once you're in there's a lot more room than a corsa B. And loads more boot room. It's got all the added extras apart from cruise control which I don't want anyway.

Hopefully want to get it on -35mm Eibach springs that are Ford approved, as it looks a bit tall at the minute. They improve handling even more and don't affect ride comfort. But they are 170 everywhere I've looked, just for some springs...

I'm surprised the st is only 150bhp. Anyway mines lowered with some wheels on with low profile tyres, this makes the ride crashy. The driving position is too high, they don't handle that well. The backend seems light and when pushing I can feel the lightness of the backend and it doesn't inspire confidence. Mine also doesn't like going over 70 that much, which annoys me .

However I'm comparing this to my previous cars (evo 4, 330d, golf gt tdi) an it just seems to have all the bad points of these cars with none of the redeeming features. Not particularly fast, not particularly comfortable and I just havnt bonded with it.

If you like yours then you've made the right choice for you, I just think I want something more comfortable if I want fuel economy or something faster if I want performance and handling.

    See where you're coming from.

I've only heard good things about the handling. And I thought my corsa handling really well considering the suspension, with good tires. But this is in a different league. I know the mk5 was awful at high speed cornering as the back end was so light. But I don't intend to push this that hard. Especially as it's the other halves car as well.
Feel like a go kart to me.

Sounds strange, but there is too much head room. I'm 6ft and there's still about half a foot or more room above me. They could have made the roof lower and made it look at bit more sportier.

Glad I got another Ford now though. Might have an RS in a few years time

I have already looked for -35mm Eibach Ford Approved springs lol... But that's all I want. And the mrs gave me right evils.

Plus I would be the type of person to declare everything under insurance, so it's not just the price of the parts I need to worry about.

Also it's too noisy at motorway speeds. However my mam complimented the rear leg room today

Yeah, it is quite noisey... But like I said. I had a Corsa B 1.0 12v tin can... That was noisey in a 'ermmm was that something falling off' kinda way.
