    Car leasing options

Hi all, I'm looking into leasing a new car through my work. Basically I'm after some sort of help - I can afford something like a Corsa VXR, Fiesta ST or Audi A1 fully kitted out or something like a Mercedes C Class, or Volvo V40 (85+ MPG isn't ignorable) without extras. I can't modify it once I've got it as I don't actually own it so I'd have to decide up front.

What would you guys do? I'm not sure if a nicer car is better to live with without any extras.

I'd be tempted with all of them cars so I'm not much use.

Day to day about 4-5 miles a day, then once a month I do about 600 miles in 3-4 days. But I'm expecting that to drop soon, should be about 8-9k a year.

I have also considered the Clio 200 as it's got the flappy paddle gearbox

I haven't looked at insurance on the smaller ones, the Volvo would save me 40 a month in insurance alone

Would the v40 be a sporty one though?

I wouldn't hesitate in choosing the ST over the VXR and A1. A friend had the Zetec S and it's a cracking car. Great to drive, looks fantastic and the interior is very nice. The ST I've only heard better things about and it looks amazing in blue. No contest in my opinion, and no I haven't been watching too much Top Gear, this has been my opinion for a while lol.

No, the diesel D2 model, great MPG though. Sporty ones would probably be outside what I'm willing to spend each month.

I should point out that this thread wasn't to choose a car, it was to decide if it's worth getting a more expensive car and living without the extras or a cheap car with everything the cars were more for example
And I like the VXR and the ST to be honest, the A1 is a bit dull. I'd test drive each one I guess!

If I was buying new I would want all the toys.

    My way of buying would be;
    Speed
Size (big enough for little one, etc.)
    Toys (cruise/sat/climate/iPod)
Mpg (does the mpg for within my budget)
    Looks

    In that order

Any car is big enough now my boy is bigger/semi independent. Speed doesn't bother me so much if it's brand new as long as it does 70-80 without being ragged.

I'm edging towards cheaper car with all the extras, I would get Sat nav regardless of the car but things like the keyless start and full/semi leather would be nice

I think the VXR is noticeably cheaper, I'll weigh up the options and see about test driving them

Don't be fooled by leather. It's impractical: cold in winter and boiling in the summer. It will burn your little boy's legs if he's wearing shorts. Get a nice set of cloth seats instead.

Behave leather is great, I've never found it too hot or too cold. Also easy to clean when the little one deposits and a stocky sweet on it.

The grey leather in my Corsa is horrible in this weather. Boiling hot and you just sweat and stick to it. Very uncomfortable, I wouldn't bother getting them again.

The car would have air con so the heat wouldn't matter too much. I like the cleanliness of it

I like the older ones but the new ones are pretty good I think

Hadn't considered but will take a look!

The main thing putting me off is that once I've got it I can't change it at all, no mods or swapping it, for less money I can buy a nice second hand and own it.
